Snow!

In front of the Christmas tree at Nonna's house
Sorry for the long delayed post! We've been busy and having fun in the snow. Since it's been a month, I'll start back in January and lead up to what we are up to now.

Last month classes started at the University. Jonathan likes the class he's teaching, and he's been busy at work, too. He got his research accepted to two more conferences this spring and summer - very exciting. I also have had some research I've been doing with colleagues accepted at the World Association for Infant Mental Health conference in Scotland this summer (though I don't think I'll be going to present it).

Quinn has turned a corner in communication, now able to come up with creative ways to tell us things. One day last month the phone was ringing and he came to me with his hand on his ear and pointing at the phone. He points to something when it hurts and says, "mmm." He's now saying "mah" for mop, "buh" for bubbles, "nana" for banana, and "bah" for ball. He spoke to my mom on the phone the other day. He feeds himself and blows on his food when it's hot. He's really been into cleaning the past few weeks - loves pushing around the mop and his xylophone, which he pretends is his vacuum. One of the cutest things he does is beatbox with Daddy, especially when they watch Pentatonix videos, which are his favorite things to watch. He's been teething molars for the past two months, and boy we can't wait until they finally cut through. He loves to play doctor with a Sesame Street doctor kit I got for him at a yard sale this summer. He puts the stethoscope on his bear and says "buh, buh" as he listens to his heart. He looks in both of bear's ears, takes his temperature, and gives him his medicine. Too cute!

The weekend before last we went down South to celebrate Christmas with Jonathan's mom and family. Ricky flew in from New York and all the siblings, cousins, and extended family came. Quinn had never met most of the extended family, so it was great to introduce him. He even performed all of his animal sounds and pointed to his body parts for the family. He wasn't feeling well the previous two weeks, so he was not in the best mood while we were there, but we all had a great time anyway.

Quinn doesn't drink anything but water (and milk), but he insisted on grabbing the straw on a cherry limeade. Not impressed!

And this brings us up to the present - snow days! The University is actually closed today and was yesterday (only the 8th time in University history that they've closed). We have about 7 inches of snow and are under a wind chill advisory tonight and tomorrow. We are supposed to get wind gusts of -23, cold enough to cause frostbite on exposed skin and freeze bubbles. We tried to play outside yesterday, but Quinn didn't like to walk in the snow. He wanted to look at it and be carried, so we went in after a few minutes. Happy snow day!
