New home

A lot has happened since the last post over a month ago - Easter, moving, Mother's day...

All last month was spent preparing our old house for its sale, and getting things ready for the new house. Packing, signing papers, meeting and calling buyers and sellers, etc. We had final walkthroughs for both houses on the 29th, then signed papers for both houses on the 30th. We moved May 1st, then moved my mom in on the 3rd. Since then we've been cleaning, settling in, and we just had our garage sale to get rid of things last weekend. The new hasn't worn off yet, but it already feels like home. Quinn absolutely loves his new room. It is still lavender/pink, and Jonathan's office is bright pink (which he loves, haha). We plan on taking most of next week to stain/seal the deck and start painting. We just got some new furniture, and after painting, we hope to post some pictures for you.

It is so wonderful to have my mom living with us now. We spend time together every day, and she watches Quinn for me some every day so I get some time to work, clean, shower, etc. It's so great! And Quinn loves spending time with his Meme.

Quinn is talking so much now. In the last month, he has started a lot of mimicking, such that it is impossible to keep track of new words. He adds at least one every day. He likes to say "oooh, wow!", and can't stop talking about how the park has no potty. There are two parks close to our new house, each about a 6 minute walk, so we try to go every day. He loves swinging the most. At the new house, he loves to play outside and draw with chalk on the back patio. He loves to play "school" with his animals in his room, which involves putting them in a circle, holding hands, and singing. Meme got him a play kitchen when we moved in and he loves to cook for everyone. Since we moved, he is doing great with potty training. He tells us when he has to go and loves all the new bathrooms to go in. He still wears training pants because he sometimes gets engrossed in play and forgets to go, but for 19 months, he's doing great!

J.J. and Zoie love the new house. Zoie has numerous windows to sleep in and new places to hide, and J.J. has an enormous yard to run in and explore. Jonathan loves his new huge closet and home gym, and I love all the windows and our jetted tub.

Cooking is best done in the nude - but don't forget your hat.
Poor J.J. got bit/stung by something and his face swelled up - he looked so pathetic!

In the middle of all the selling, buying, moving, Jonathan was closing the semester teaching in the Honors College, working full-time, and finishing up a course he was taking for his degree. He will be taking a class in June and has two conferences to go to this summer, but we hope it will be a little less busy with the Humanities course over with. We both will be teaching again the fall and Jonathan will be doing his comps - then he will be ABD! Hurray!

The weather is already getting hot, but we are so happy to have lots of time and sunshine to enjoy our new yard and the parks. Quinn loves to play outside more than anything. And I like it too!
