On Friday I ran 8 miles as part of my half marathon training. It went surprisingly well. We drove to see family on Friday afternoon and stayed for the weekend. Our July 4th celebration was pretty interesting. There were 30 people at the house and tons of great summer food. Things turned about the time that the fireworks began. We had to hide out in the basement with J.J. because he was afraid of the fireworks and the kids got chocolate brownie all over the floor. J.J. decided that he needed to pee but was too afraid to go out. So he went on the (thankfully tile) floor upstairs. As we were cleaning it up, he decided it was a good time and place to poo. Our 2 year-old nephew thought this was quite interesting so he went over to check it out. It apparently didn't agree with him because he started vomiting. Then J.J. pooped again. Then Grayson puked again. It was a circus act to keep the baby, poop, J.J., and vomit separated while we were cleaning. Then Anja got burned while lighting some fireworks for the kids and had to go to the hospital. (Don't worry, she's okay, so you don't need to frantically call her.) :) Then part of a filling on my front tooth broke off. And finally, just when we thought we could hit the sack at around 2am, we found more poop downstairs. It was a holiday to remember!

Independence Day
We had a good week and a fun three-day weekend. We weighed J.J. at the vet's office last week and were shocked to discover that he was 30 lbs.! He weighed only 18 lbs. on June 9. This boy is growing like there's no tomorrow. We are predicting 75 lbs. adult weight.

This is J.J. in his American Flag bandana, a gift from Aunt Rachey.
J.J. absolutely loves the pool and really has swimming down.
Wonder dog!
I can't believe how big this dog is! Isn't he still a puppy?
Grayson enjoyed getting to know J.J. (and his poop) better this weekend. J.J. didn't mind Grayson petting him and pulling his tail. What a sweet dog!
This is Zoie. Jonathan insightfully informed me that since the puppy came along, we have no pictures of Zoie. She is adapting fairly well, I suppose. If still hissing at J.J. can be taken as doing well. I suspect that she's lost a little weight and is still very upset at our betrayal but she should get over it soon. Maybe once he grows up a little. Fortunately, she still sleeps with us and wants our attention. We are preparing for our move coming up next week and enjoying our final week at home in our little condo.

Hey, J's! Thanks for the shout out. I love being a cool Aunt Rachey! Love the pic of Zoie. Sweet kitty. Her coat is beautiful. I enjoyed seeing you this past weekend. Love you all.
Hi Sweetheart-
Your poop story seems vaguely familiar. I seem to recall a similar incident involving Georgie and yourself some 23 years ago.
I am getting the Tracker ready for you today, and JJ-proofing the house. I am so looking forward to puppy-sitting him during your move, and Miss Zoie as well. I will have her royal chamber prepared for her, and she can hide in her favorite spot for as long as she wishes.
Love,
mom
