Birthday/Valentine's Day Celebration

Last weekend we celebrated my birthday and Valentine's Day by going out of town for part of the weekend. JJ had a sleepover at my mom's and he had as much fun on his little holiday as we did. The trip actually started out pretty funny. Jonathan and I have never been to this particular town before but we had clear and easy directions and expected to arrive after about an hour and a half. Well, we got to talking about some cool theories and possible thesis topics etc. and... drove 30 miles past our exit! It would have been annoying if it hadn't been so funny! After talking excitedly for an hour, we looked up and realized that we did not know where we were and after consulting the map, realized that we had to turn around and go back 30 miles to our exit. It was fun to explain to the restaurant why we needed our reservation pushed back. Although it indisputably shows how terribly nerdy we are, my mom graciously pointed out that it also shows how good our marriage is - we can get lost just enjoying each other's conversation.
Once we finally got to the restaurant, we had a great lunch and free cheesecake. Then we had a tour of the winery followed by a tasting, in which the gal gave us at least two glasses a piece by the end of it. We had to sit a while and chat while we waited for the alcohol to settle enough to drive (we are such light-weights). Then we went to our B&B - so cute and romantic. We had a rowdy evening of it by browsing at a local used book store and getting pizza to bring back to our suite. :) We laughed as we passed the bars on our way to the bookstore.
Our breakfast was amazing - caramel apple french toast, eggs, fruit, OJ, and coffee. I ate way too much. It was great. We left Sunday morning in a light snow and did not get lost this time. We picked up JJ and concluded a lovely Valentine's Day and birthday weekend.
